Cream of the crop: Farming award wins for two Duchy FarmsCream of the crop: Farming award wins for two Duchy Farms
9th October 2025

Congratulations to Stuart and Helen Rogers, Duchy dairy farmers from Longmoor Farm, Dorset, who have been crowned the Farm Carbon Toolkit’s 2025 Carbon Farmer of the Year; and to Ashley Jones, from Smeaton Farm, Cornwall, who was selected as the winner of Farmers Weekly’s Farmer of the Year 2025 as well as the Mixed Farmer of the Year award.

At Longmoor Farm, this amazing achievement is testament to Stuart’s and Helen’s hard work and commitment to balancing high milk yields with improving soils and biodiversity.
Duchy tenant Stuart Rogers comments:
“We are so pleased to have been awarded the Carbon Farmer of the Year award. A big thanks to the Duchy for supporting all our efforts and the team at Longmoor for helping us achieve this.”
Smeaton Farm is a mixed-farm where Ashley Jones runs an extensive business that includes sheep, beef, arable and contracting enterprises, on top of a variety of diversifications from bees and pumpkins to a farm park and a successful B&B.

Through his integrated, in-house agronomy, he has reduced nitrogen fertiliser use, enriched biodiversity and boasts very high soil organic matter levels.
Duchy tenant Ashley Jones said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to have been recognised and to have won 'Mixed farmer of the year' but also 'Farmer of the year'. The hard work really does pay off”.
Congratulations to Duchy Focus Farmers Malcolm and Catherine Barrett from Tregooden Farm, Cornwall who were this year’s Carbon Farmer of the Year runners up, having built a resilient system at their mixed farm, through agroforestry, rotations and community connection.
